Action C1: Impact of the two prototypes on the production of N2O flux data
From April to June 2016
We are strongly convinced that the two prototypes developed in the IPNOA project will have a considerable impact on the production of N2O flux data, both from the qualitative and quantitative point of views. These expectations, for what quality is concerned, are ground on the involvement of a world leader research centre in the study of N2O emission from agricultural soils, on the use of the highest-quality N2O analyzer presently available on the market, and on the development of rigorous calibration and validation procedures. The expected impact in quantitative terms derives from the adoption of the accumulation chamber technique coupled with an automatic, non-destructive measurement system which allow to carry out N2O flux determination in a shorter lapse of time with respect to other instruments and methodologies. The maximum innovation and impact are expected from the portable prototype representing a presently unavailable item.
In addition, through the use of the two newly produced instruments, we expect to be able to obtain a sufficiently reliable figure for the N2O emission from agriculture, in the specific framework of the Tuscany Region and to be able to export these results to other frameworks worldwide.
Expected results
The main expected result is the production of a large number of N2O flux data distributed both in space and time, for the selected centres CIRAA and CATES.
We also expect that these data will be of high quality for the reasons explained above.
An indirect result is represented by the Best Practices Manual.
